When creating my first designs, it was imperative for me to create shoes that were bold and for women who long for disruption and choose to take risks and live life fearlessly. Women like style icon, Rihanna. A few months ago, Rihanna ordered ‘Pout’ in two colors. Since then, I’ve been anxiously awaiting the boot to make an appearance in one of her statement looks. Just last week, the moment happened. Rihanna matched the bone-colored version with a pair of a figure-hugging denim and a faux fur hooded jacket from her Fenty X Puma collection. Best known for thinking out of the box when it comes to style, Rihanna definitely showed up as she stepped out in this urban chic look as she strolled through New York City.
After launching Kendall Miles Designs, people often asked what celebrities I wanted to wear the brand. Rihanna was always my first answer. Much like myself, Rihanna is daring, a risk-taker that doesn’t follow trends, but rather creates them. My goal with KMD has been the same – to create a brand that will flourish by remaining artistic, creative, genuine to ourselves with the designs. I wanted to make shoes with bold features like sky-high heels, luxurious feathers and hardware details.
The ‘Pout’ boot is a prime example of this. The boot, a Golden A’ Design award winner, is available in olive, black and bone calf and features a chic, strap-on pocket with handsome diamond dust hardware that doubles the appeal of the street-savvy boot. Its design was inspired by the idea of modernizing the spat, an accessory historically known to strap onto your boot to protect it from dirt and debris on the street. This pocket is a custom, functional feature, attached with a leather, studded strap is capable of holding small items, and the boot itself sleek and simple in design.
